Interchange Number Plate Service in Malaysia
A number plate interchange is the process of transferring an existing vehicle registration number from an original vehicle to a new or temporary vehicle while assigning another registration number to the original vehicle where required.
This is commonly used when vehicle owners want to retain a special, premium, memorable, or personally meaningful registration number when changing vehicles.
At S1 Number Plate Sdn Bhd, we assist customers with the relevant PUSPAKOM inspection arrangements, documentation preparation, runner coordination, and JPJ interchange procedures.

Why Interchange a Vehicle Registration Number?
A registration number can carry personal, sentimental, branding, collectible, or financial value for its owner.
Number plate interchange allows you to retain a preferred registration number when changing vehicles instead of leaving that number attached to the vehicle being replaced or sold.
Common reasons include:
The appropriate arrangement will depend on the vehicles involved and the relevant JPJ requirements.
Step-by-Step Car Plate Interchange Process
Step 1: Complete the PUSPAKOM Inspection
The original vehicle must undergo the required PUSPAKOM inspection.
An appointment can be arranged through the MyPUSPAKOM platform. Before inspection, the vehicle should be prepared to meet the applicable inspection requirements, including relevant vehicle condition checks.
Once the inspection is completed successfully, the required B2 inspection report can be used for the next stage.
Step 2: Submit the JPJ Application
The approved PUSPAKOM B2 report, Borang JPJ K1, identification documents, and other applicable supporting documents are then prepared for the relevant JPJ procedure.
When all required documentation and procedures are in order, the number plate interchange can usually be completed on the same day.
Step 3: Install the Registration Numbers
After JPJ approval, the retained registration number can be installed on the new vehicle.
The original vehicle will receive the applicable temporary or replacement registration number where required as part of the interchange arrangement.
Step 4: Update the Vehicle Insurance
Once the interchange has been completed, the insurance for the new vehicle can be activated or updated according to the new registration details.
